The Southend Museums Service comprises four buildings, the Central Museum and Planetarium, Southchurch Hall, Prittlewell Priory and the Beecroft Art Gallery. The website includes a guide to local history in and around Southend.

Southend Timeline is a hub for people's memories of our great Essex seaside town. It features hundreds of photos and a wealth of information about Southend from the 1800s to the present day. The site is the creation of VRT Engineering Team member, Nick Skinner.
4   Link   Canvey Island Transport Museum
This superb museum is home to over thirty old and rare buses and coaches alongside vintage commercials, military and emergency vehicles. A Special Open Day Show is held every October.

5   Link   The Bay Museum, Canvey Island
The Bay Musuem and Research Facilty features displays on Canvey Island in the two World Wars and the Cold War. The museum building itself is a relic of the Cold War.

The next Military and Flying Machines Show is at Damyn's Hall aerodrome on 4-5 August 2012.
7   Link   Southend Pier Museum
Southend is the home of the longest pleasure pier in the world, extending 2,158 metres (that’s over 1.3 miles) out into the Thames Estuary. The pier has its own museum where you can learn about the wonderful history of this iconic landmark – or should that be sea-mark? – and climb on board one of the early pier trains that has been restored to its former glory.
