Engineering Update - February 2010

Progress during February has centred on the elevon rebuild and the reassembly of the engine intakes. New channels have been made and dry fitted to the elevon ribs with skin pins. During the reassembly of the intakes on all four engines, the hydraulic pumps are being changed on Nos 2 and 3 engines with new pumps, due to the current pumps over-pressuring the system. The first to be changed is No 3, with No 2 to follow. The counterpoise panel has had further bonding repairs and Matt Chester can be seen below applying sealant.

Engineering Update - 23rd January 2010

Saturday 23 January saw less snow and rain and therefore more work outdoors! On the aircraft work on refinishing the surface of the engine intake sections was completed with the application of primer and top coat to No.4 engine. Engine intake half shells and ducting was refitted to Nos. 1, 2 and 3 during the afternoon and then the onset of darkness and cold finished work for the day.

Engineering Update - 16th January 2010

This weekend saw further work progress on No. 4 Elevon, work start on making the first new channel section for one of the ribs and de-corrosion, treating and priming of the end skin.

Engineering Update - December and 2nd January 2010

Engineering activity continued over the Christmas period, interrupted some what by both Santa and the snowy weather. Work continuing outside when the weather allowed, inside the workshop work continued on the Jet Pipe Endcap with the delivery of new rib section steel and the final touches to the AEO Seat being completed on the New Year weekend.
